Lithium Americas is building a major lithium mining and processing facility in Northern Humboldt County.  The project will ultimately increase domestically supplied lithium by 16 times and furnish enough material for roughly 2 million electric vehicles once fully scaled. General Motors will take all of Lithium Americas’ product for at least the first ten years of production. 

Processing of lithium, or any mineral for that matter, is not a one-size-fits-all proposition.  Lithium Americas has been running small scale tests on our ore to optimize processing. We began these tests in Reno several years ago at a small lab and moved into a 30,000 square foot pilot plant last year, which is where the NCET Tech Wednesday will be held. The new facility helps us to be as efficient and environmentally responsible as possible.  It also affords us opportunities to collaborate with the University of Nevada and other entities on new innovations in lithium battery technology.  

We look forward to providing NCET a presentation on our project, pilot plant, partnership with General Motors, and efforts to responsibly on-shore the production of high-purity battery-grade lithium materials.
