The Nevada Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (NCET) invites you to a compelling panel discussion on the transformative role of technology in reducing the harms associated with traditional smoking. As public health concerns about combustible cigarettes persist, innovative solutions are emerging to assist those unable or unwilling to quit.

Panel Highlights:

  • Exploring Alternatives: Delve into products like Philip Morris International's IQOS, a heated tobacco system authorized by the FDA as a modified risk tobacco product. IQOS heats tobacco without burning it, potentially reducing exposure to harmful chemicals.

  • Public Health Implications: Discuss strategies to support Nevada's 15% adult smoking population in transitioning to less harmful alternatives, thereby improving individual health and protecting those around them.

  • Workplace Wellness: Examine how smoke-free technologies can safeguard the approximately 386,000 workers in Nevada's casinos, where indoor smoking remains prevalent.

  • Economic and Environmental Impact: Consider how promoting smoke-free products might boost tourism and reduce wildfire risks in Nevada's cherished outdoor spaces.

  • Policy and Incentives: Analyze the potential of tax policies and other incentives to encourage smokers to switch to reduced-harm products.
