A lot can happen in twenty years. Moment Skis was founded in 2003, and “started as a labor of love born from frustration and longing.” Now, Moment Skis is the largest ski manufacturer in the United States.
In this Tech Wednesday, tour an entire walkthrough of Moment’s new (Sept 2022) production facility. See all the different processes and aspects that are involved with the production of skis. This tour covers everything from the production of the parts of the skis; wood cores, plastic sidewalls, ski base, ski edges, fiberglass, and graphics, along with the assembly of all the parts, the grinding process to remove unneeded material and polishing the remaining material, the final finishing touches, quality control and packaging of the final product.
The Tech Wednesday tour will also cover the showroom aspect of Moment Ski’s factory, which involves everything from determining the proper model for a given customer, the boot fitting process, mounting of ski bindings, and all other tuning and repair services offered. See the one stop shop for everything from the feet down needed for skiing and have the capabilities to outfit most skiers with whatever they may need.
At the presentation you will see/learn:
How ski parts are machined
How skis are assembled and pressed together
The processes a ski base goes through to promote glide on snow
What goes into determining the proper ski model for a given customer
