CES, the Consumer Electronics Show, is an annual trade show organized by the Consumer Technology Association. Held in Las Vegas, Nevada, all the heavy hitters in innovation show off new products and technologies in the consumer electronics industry. An amongst the world’s largest companies are some incredible startups, creating products you didn’t even know you needed.

  1. Bluefin: This product monitors levels of salinity, pH, temperature and depth, along with the physiology (or muscle strain) of a creature’s movement underwater–perfect for tracking fish for scientific research. It’s kind of like a wearable for sea creatures. Unlike average wearables, this is made of stretchable, flexible material.

  2. Core: Looking for zen in 2020? Core is a handheld meditation device that guides users’ breathing via audio and vibration instead of using brain-wave tracking like other competitors. The founder opted to use ECG, which measures heart rate variability and offers data on how a user’s mental state and its relation to their physical well-being.

  3. Smart Beat: This one could potentially save young lives. This video baby monitor keeps track of an infant’s breathing without any wires connected. The device alerts guardians via call, text or sound in the event of a concerning change.
