NCET Biz Tips: NCET announces new Biz Bite venue, supports veteran-owned business

Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (NCET) is excited to announce a new venue for its monthly Biz Bite luncheons, held on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
Starting July 24, 2024, Biz Bite luncheons will be held at The Par by Parlay 6 Brewing Company.
Parlay 6 opened its doors on May 8th in between Pizzava and Rum Sugar Lime, in one of Midtown’s beautiful 1940s brick buildings.
The midtown Brew Pub is owned and managed by six partners and friends: Ken Foster, Adam Kincaid, Mike Sotiriadis, Chris Galli, Zach Baughman, and Sam Straka. An eclectic group of three Northern Nevada natives, one Canadian, and two who grew up in the Gold Country and moved to Reno years ago.
Foster spent eight years in the Marine Corps, having served one tour on the Iraq/Syrian border before returning to his hometown. Several of the founders are, and have been, professionals in Northern Nevada’s beer industry for a decade and a half. Parlay 6 offers a very diverse beer portfolio with 24-beers on tap. Parlay 6 makes world class IPAs, but also has an extensive lineup in lagers, sours and pastry stouts.
Aside from the beer, Parlay 6 offers elevated pub fare with a seasonally rotating selection of house-made burgers, sandwiches, salads, and nostalgic treats like bagel bites, hot pockets, and pop tarts. Don’t forget to try the Adult Soft Serve!
“We really want to be the local midtown late night dining establishment. If our doors are open, there are food items available until we close the doors,” said Foster.
Those who register for NCET Biz Bite luncheons will be able to select a lunch item from a specialized menu, and a fountain drink.
“NCET is thrilled to support a local, veteran-owned business,” said President and CEO Sarah Johns. “It is our goal to highlight local entrepreneurs and educate the public at the same time. We sincerely hope people support Parlay 6.”
July’s NCET Biz Bite speaker is University of Nevada, Reno’s Director of Latinx/Hispanic Community Relations Osvaldo Jimenez-Estupinan. Sarah Johns is president and Chief Executive Officer of NCET - Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology. Sarah joined NCET in 2022 when Dave Archer retired after 16 years at the helm.
Sarah has extensive experience in communications and networking with 20 years’ experience in television. She has also worked as Director of Public Relations for a tech startup, and most recently she was the Public Information Officer for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. Sarah was recognized in 2017 by the Reno Tahoe Young Professionals Network as one of Northern Nevada’s 20 Under 40. In 2018, Sarah received the 2018 Sierra Nevada Top-20 Powerful Women award from Northern Nevada Business Weekly.
When not working to further the NCET mission, you can find Sarah spending time with her husband Dave Lawrence Johnson, their two young children, and two rescue dogs.
