Leading professionals to serve on NCET board
Skip Benton has been elected to the board of directors of NCET, a member-supported nonprofit that produces educational and networking events to help people explore businesses and technology.
Peter Fishburn and Dave Zybert have been re-elected to the NCET board.
Benton, an agent with Coldwell Banker Select Real Estate, will serve as NCET’s vice president of event services for luncheon events.
A native of upstate New York, Benton graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied trombone and music composition.
He came to Reno in 1989 and launched an insurance agency. After selling the insurance firm, he became a Realtor, selling more than 100 homes a year.
Benton also is a member of the board of directors of the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra and a volunteer with the Reno Chamber Orchestra.
Fishburn, elected as vice president of Tech Wednesdays, has worked nearly 27 years as a regional representative in northern Nevada for Brown & Bigelow, a promotional products company.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation and leisure services from California State University, Northridge, and earned a master’s degree in business from Golden Gate University.
Fishburn has been active in numerous regional organizations, including Chambers of Commerce in Carson City and Reno and Rotary.
Zybert, re-elected as NCET’s vice president of creative services, recently retired as special events coordinator at the Nugget Casino Resort.
He held management positions with marketing and media companies in northern Nevada for nearly 25 years and is the president of D-Zine Services, a marketing and social-media company in Reno.
Zybert also has served as an actor, director and producer with theater groups throughout northern Nevada and has served as public information chair and communications chair with Rotary International District 5190.
“The strength of NCET reflects the professional expertise and community involvement of its board members,” said Dave Archer, president and CEO of the nonprofit. “We deeply appreciate the service of Skip, Peter and David.”
