Community leaders selected to serve on NCET board

Henry Merschel

Henry Merschel has been elected vice president of public relations for NCET, a member-supported non-profit that produces educational and networking events to help people explore businesses and technology.

Matt Brown, Jock Ochiltree and Erich Schmitt have been re-elected to the NCET board of directors.

Merschel is the digital marketing analyst for The Abbi Agency, where he develops meaningful insights from large amounts of raw data that is collected by the integrated marketing and PR efforts.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from San Francisco State University and holds certifications in software including Hubspot and Google Analytics.

Brown, re-elected as NCET’s vice president of blog content for a fifth consecutive year, has worked as the communications program manager for the City of Reno since 2014. In that time, he established the Reno Lens community photography network and has helped grow the annual State of the City into an event that attracts hundreds of citizens.

An award-winning journalist, he previously worked as managing editor of Nevada Magazine, following stints at the Reno Gazette-Journal and the Sierra Sun in Truckee.

Ochiltree has been elected as NCET’s vice president of events services.

Ochiltree is a Realtor with eXp Realty in Reno. He has been a Realtor since 2006. During a 34-year career in the technology industry, Ochiltree held positions as chief executive officer, president and other management positions with numerous companies. He also has worked with a Sacramento business incubator.  

Ochiltree earned a bachelor’s degree in electric engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an MBA from Santa Clara University and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Arizona State University.

Schmitt, director of sales and marketing with Lifecycle Solutions, an electronics recycler in Sparks, was elected as NCET’s vice president of email services for Biz Café and Biz Bite.

His career includes eight years of service in the U.S. Air Force, work as a general manager, and sales, marketing and business development positions in Northern Nevada. He also has filled volunteer leadership positions for nonprofits including the Veterans Guest House and The Chamber as well as a board member of WIN.

Schmitt attended the University of West Georgia.
