Listening is a critical skill for both professional and personal success. Some of us are naturals, most of us are not skillful. Emotions and egos interfere. The result? … misunderstandings and conflict. Worse … employees quit, projects get delayed and customers leave.
The good news is listening improves with awareness and practice. Listening comes in two flavors … understanding facts, and understanding feelings, also known as empathy. Combined you have the first steps towards emotional intelligence.
This is not about reaching agreement. If we all were in agreement, there would be no elections, no football games. This is all about obtaining mutual understanding. And, showing through behaviors that you understand each other.
The one-hour session focuses on discussing the importance and improving the skill through practice. Building on 20+ years of conducting communications workshops in over eight countries.
John will discuss:
The Business Case
Lessons From Leaders
Body Language
Paraphrasing Drill – Understanding Information
Empathy Practice – Understanding Feelings
More Tips And Wrap-Up
