Join us for January’s NCET Tech Wednesday as we go behind the scenes at Options Veterinary Care.
Options is the first and only nonprofit clinic serving the public in Northern Nevada. The mission of the clinic is to help pet owners who cannot afford the high cost of veterinary care for a beloved pet. When people cannot afford vet care, dogs and cats suffer. Providing vet care at affordable prices (even free if needed) helps to reduce the surrender of pets to local animal shelters, that already struggle with a high volume of pets, and importantly, it keeps pets with the people who love them. Pets, as you probably know, have many benefits for people, especially for seniors and children.
This event is an exclusive opportunity to learn how this innovative clinic is improving lives while tackling the challenges of affordable veterinary care in the region. Carrie Brown, clinic manager, and other key staff members, including veterinarians and technicians, will share insights into their vital work. Diane Blankenburg, CEO of Humane Network, and Bonney Brown, president of Options, will present the clinic’s mission and impact.
Explore the treatment areas, surgical suite, dental facilities, digital radiography, ultrasound, laser treatment, and in-house diagnostic labs. Learn about cutting-edge technologies bridging human and veterinary medicine.
On this tour, you’ll learn:
How this unique nonprofit veterinary clinic is able to serve pets in need and the people who care about them – pets who otherwise would suffer without veterinary care.
The increasing use of technologies, once only for humans, in veterinary medicine.
Why clinics like Options are needed, including survey results from Nevada residents.
The nationwide shortage of veterinarians and the challenges this has created including the increasing cost of veterinary care that has made an unexpected medical emergency for a pet into a financial and emotional crisis for many senior citizens with limited incomes and low-income families in northern Nevada and across the country.
The future potential of telemedicine for serving rural areas where veterinary services are scarce.
