Located in Fallon, Frey Ranch Distillery is Nevada’s first and only whiskey producer to grow 100% of its grains on-site. The Frey family’s farming legacy dates back to 1854 and which continues today with CEO, co-founder, and self-proclaimed “Whiskey Farmer,” Colby Frey, and his wife and co-founder, Ashley.
The Frey family employs a common-sense approach to sustainable farming, Colby’s inspiration to build a distillery came in part from a desire to create a quality, long-lasting product from perishable crops that would otherwise have a limited shelf life and generate waste. The family consider themselves stewards of the land and have long abided by the motto, “Be good to the land and the land will be good to you,” which is engraved on the bottom of each bottle of Frey Ranch Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
Colby and Ashley work alongside distiller and certified crop advisor Russell Wedlake to oversee each stage of the production process, “from ground to glass.” From farming and harvesting the grains through distillation and maturation, the Frey Ranch team is dedicated to crafting the highest quality whiskey, which doesn’t leave the ranch until it’s bottled and ready to be enjoyed.
