Most interview techniques fall far short of expectations when attempting to determine if someone has “the right stuff” for the position you wish to fill. Even when employing what are purported to be cutting edge “behavioral interviewing” techniques, the predictive validity concerning skill application when someone gets on the job is very low.
The fact is that some people are much better at getting a job than doing a job! The only valid and reliable way of ensuring candidates have the knowledge skills and talents you are looking for is to create measurable performance criteria and then evaluating if candidates have those performance factors by employing the Guided Storytelling Interview (GSI). This presentation provides insight into why the GSI is the only interviewing technique you should use. While attaining a high level of GSI proficiency takes a couple days of training, you will take away some GSI elements that you can apply immediately.
Join Bill Bryan as he explores:
How people differ and what factors consistently account for superior performance.
The need for measurable performance criteria with regard to role, competency, and leadership style proficiency.
The need for evaluation methodologies that can accurately assess whether a candidate has the capabilities being sought.
A comparison of candidate evaluation methodologies and their predictive validity with regard to how well someone will perform once on the job.
Why the only good predictor of future behavior or skill demonstration is past behavior and skill demonstration.
The role of the interview in evaluating candidate competence and why the Guided Storytelling Interview (TM) significantly outperforms any other interview evaluation technique.
