All Nevadans and all Nevada businesses rely on various sources of energy every day. As our population grows and our reliance on technology expands, so does our demand for energy. There are times that our demand exceeds what our infrastructure can supply. In 2023, Nevada consumed six times more energy than the state produced. If Nevada and the U.S. in general, wants to meet growing demand, investment in infrastructure is essential. As with any good investment portfolio, the key to mitigating risk is in diversification.
Join me on December 4th for an NCET Biz Café presentation on Diversifying Nevada’s Energy Portfolio. We’ll discuss how our legal and political landscape creates opportunities and challenges to energy diversification. I’ll also outline a few types of renewable energy resources in Nevada as well as the importance of battery energy storage and transmission. Finally, I’ll explore ideas to overcome some of the current hurdles that are impeding improvement of grid reliability.
During the December Biz Café, Amber will cover:
The current and projected future supply and demand of energy in Nevada.
The state and federal laws and regulations surrounding energy generation, storage, and transmission.
Overview of the technology behind a few of Nevada’s most common types of renewable energy.
Pros and cons of types of energy.
Overcoming the hurdles to grid reliability.
