This time of year is always difficult, and I assume there are many others that feel the same way. Gift buying, especially for Valentine’s Day, always seems like an impossible feat achievable by only the most practiced gift givers. I am not one of those people.
The struggle is real. The same necklace, earrings and spa treatments get old after a while, and I can imagine being able to predict what you are going to receive based on a pattern of consistently similar gifts takes the fun out of it. There is nothing to fear however, and I am here to help guide those in similar boats as me to a unique gift idea that will surprise your significant other.
Thankfully the constant strides in technology provides us a huge landscape of products to choose from. These are some of gifts I thought would be good, from budget-friendly to the more expensive.
For years children have preferred video games to going outside. Now those children are grown and are in a relationship with you, but you know nothing about gaming. Introducing the Logitech G900 gaming mouse. This professional-grade ambidextrous mouse is the top of Logitech’s line and receives rave reviews. Does your special man or lady prefer console games over a PC? A customized Xbox controller might be just the thing they didn’t know they wanted. The Xbox design lab will allow you customize every aspect of your controller all the way down to engraving a special message on it.
You keep hearing about all the smart TV apps from your friends but don’t want to spend the money on a new TV with the smart capabilities? Look no further than the Roku Express and the access to thousands of apps it provides. The new compact Roku offers models in analog, HDMI and 4K depending on the TV you own. At a starting price of $30 this is a great gift for the price-conscious.
Drone photography and videography
Perhaps your spouse has a taste for the more lavish of gifts and you are constantly catching them looking to the sky wondering what it would be like to have a bird’s-eye view of their surroundings. Help them get that perspective through a new drone. With so many options out there, I will mention just one. The DJI Phantom 4 provides 4K video recording as well as full HD slow-motion recording as well. The Phantom 4 improves on the high-end drone capabilities, using its vision positioning system that allows for precise hovering without the use of satellites. With 28 minutes of flight time and a 3.1 mile range, this drone will make your partner into the videographer they always wanted to be.
There are many products out there you can choose from when trying to find the perfect gift for that special someone, but take a risk and drop the same old cliche Valentine’s gift and surprise them with technology!
