Calling all creatives and creative hopefuls – did you know that Reno is home to a vibrant Maker Space? If you’ve ever wondered where some of our area’s most beautiful and unique sculptures were dreamt up and built, look no farther than The Generator.
Many of Reno’s most iconic displays, such as the Space Whale, along with pieces found across the globe, were made possible by the resources, collaboration and curiosity of The Generator collective.
The Generator is foremost a gathering of people from a variety of backgrounds, experiences and education, coming together within a collaborate space to help one another create. Creative mediums range from metal sculpting and painting, to woodworking and aerial acrobatics – and everything in between.
Members bring with them their unique talents not only to build their own projects, but to help others build, learn new skills and discover new passions.
In addition to their accessibility as a creative space for builders of art, is The Generator’s commitment to educating local youth on creative pursuits in the form of STEAM Education. Soon, K-12 students will have access to online programs and workshops that combine STEAM learning with interactive, hands-on experiences.
For those hoping to get involved, it is important to note that The Generator is in the process of moving to their new home on Oddie Boulevard in Sparks, NV! This space will eventually be home to several workspaces, lofts and much more!
Community membership affords access to discounted workshops as well as discounts to their Community Partner, Space Cadet – a local co-retail space. Whether you’re interested in creating your next masterpiece, or wanting to support this incredible organization, there are many ways to get involved through membership or donations.
Learn more about The Generator and how you can get involved during our virtual Tech Wednesday tour.
