At 12:01 AM on July 1, 2017, the doors of several marijuana dispensaries opened to eager patrons both novice and experienced, yet excited, to legally purchase cannabis in Nevada. Since then, local dispensaries have tried their hand at clever and innovative marketing tactics aimed at recruiting individuals from a variety of demographics.
Until Nevada recently legalized recreational marijuana, the different types of marijuana strains and products may have seemed inconsequential to many Nevadans — an illegal, niche market, to say the least. Not so today, as legal marijuana and related products fly off the shelves in Nevada and in other states that have legalized marijuana for medicinal or recreational purposes.
Intellectual property (IP) is where thoughts and ideas meet the material world and is commonly defined as any work or invention that’s come about as the result of creativity. A strength to the business that owns it, IP is considered an asset in bankruptcy proceedings, can be sold or lost and needs to be protected by the company that owns the property.
