Back when many cities had just three TV stations and you had to walk to the TV to change channels, I looked forward to TV Guide’s Fall Preview of new and returning shows. With that in mind, here’s my annual NCET’s Fall Preview of programs and events designed to help Northern Nevada’s small businesses and entrepreneurs.
TEDxUniversityofNevada organizers have announced their seventh annual event will be Saturday, February 23, 2019 and the call for speakers will be open from June 1-July 6. Over the years, TEDxUniversityofNevada has become one of the most prominent TEDx events in the nation with videos reaching more than a combined 25 million views. The event has also brought some of the most well-known business trailblazers, influential media personalities and incredible performers to Reno, while also starting national dialogue and unveiling important issues in the community.
For the sixth year in a row, TEDxUniversityofNevada will present an impressive lineup of inspiring and thought-provoking speakers. The one-day event will take place at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018. Doors open at 8 a.m. and the event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tickets are on sale for TEDxUniversityofNevada, set for Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017. Cost is $100 and includes more than 15 TEDx talks, five performances, a boxed lunch and refreshments. Student ticket cost is $30 with a valid student ID from an area school. New this year, the event will move to the Grand Theatre at the Grand Sierra Resort. The 2,700-seat theatre is a natural fit for the event. After selling out the 1,200-seat Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts last year, the new venue will offer even more people the opportunity to share in a meaningful TEDx experience and will foster a more diverse audience.
One of my favorite things about living in Northern Nevada is the wide range of fascinating programs and events that focus on business, technology – and life! Here are just a few of the 2016 events worth checking out.
The University of Nevada, Reno recently held its third annual TEDxUniversityofNevada event. Sponsored by UNR’s Online Executive MBA program, this year’s 20 talks featured a dazzling array of speakers ranging from best-selling authors, business executives, non-profit leaders, and professors to various individuals with both inspiring and important stories to share. After watching all 20 talks live and in person, below are a couple of my favorites as they relate to business and marketing, with the common thread among them being a commitment to continued learning.
The third annual TEDxUniversityofNevada, to be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Joe Crowley Student Union on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno, will feature a number of influential business and technology leaders among the 20 scheduled speakers. The event is sponsored by the University of Nevada’s College of Business. Although tickets are sold out for the event, the presentations will be live streamed online from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.
As a child, I looked forward with great anticipation to TV Guide’s Fall Preview of new and returning shows. With that in mind, I once again present NCET’s Fall Preview of new and returning programs and events designed to help our small businesses and entrepreneurs. Events include National Clean Energy Summit, Crowdfunding Basics Workshop, Governor’s Conference on Small Business, NCET Small Business Expo and TEDxUniversityofNevada.

For those who don’t know, TED is a nonprofit devoted to “ideas worth spreading.” TED stands […]
