Dave Archer – President/CEO
Dave Archer is President and CEO of NCET, a member-supported nonprofit organization that produces educational and networking events to help people explore business and technology. NCET has been named “Nonprofit of the Year” by the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce.
Dave has over 45 years’ experience in all facets of US and international product and market development, including 17 years at Viacom where he introduced numerous new products and services such as Pay-Per-View, home shopping, high-speed data services and “OSN,” the Middle East’s largest multi-lingual cable TV and satellite programming service. Following Viacom, Dave joined Home Box Office in New York as Senior Vice President of International Development, and then served as head of International Websites at AOL Netscape. Before joining NCET, Dave worked at Headlight, a leading provider of online training services, as Vice President of Business Development and Sales.
Dave holds an MBA and a BA in Management from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA, and AS degrees in Electronics Engineering and Broadcast Engineering from the College of San Mateo in San Mateo, CA.
Dave Archer is the co-founder of the Reno Angels, past Chair of Entrepreneurship Nevada and past President of the Reno-Tahoe American Marketing Association. Dave is a current or former member of State of Nevada’s EPSCoR Committee, EDAWN, NNDA, WIN, the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce and numerous other community organizations.
Dave has been named the American Marketing Association’s “Influencer of the Year, and previous awards include Nevada Nonprofit News’ “Nonprofit Executive of the Year” and the Reno-Tahoe AMA’s “Marketer of the Year.” The City of Reno recently declared Nov 14 as “Dave Archer Day” in recognition of his contributions to the community.
Brook Bentley – VP of Image and Video Assets
Brook Bentley grew up at Lake Tahoe and has a background focused on digital content marketing and social media strategy that she applies to her current role as Social Media and Content Manager for Sierra Nevada Media Group. She is passionate about growing organizations via content and digital marketing and has a plethora of experience doing so. Brook completed her undergrad degree in Journalism and Media Studies at San Diego State University and will complete her MBA at UNR in May 2019. When she isn’t researching current digital trends or studying, you’ll find Brook playing soccer, skiing, or going on an outdoor adventure with her dog, Biggie Smalls.
Lindsay Bradley – VP of Email Services
Lindsay is the Chief Operating Officer at Simco Imported Shoes, Inc., an importer, wholesaler and distributor of women’s European comfort shoes. The family-owned and operated company has been part of the local Reno/Sparks community since 1983. Upon joining Simco in 2016, Lindsay began infusing her passion for conscious business values and principles into the company’s culture. Since then, the organization has been recognized in the community as a NNHRA’s Best Place to Work Finalist (2017) and has received numerous nominations for EDAWN’s Existing Industry Awards: Employees First (2017, 2018), Corporate Citizen (2017, 2018), Small But Mighty (2018), and Company of the Year (2018).
Prior to joining the leadership team at Simco, she was a Project Management Consultant to Microsoft, a Human Resources Consultant, and held an integral role in the initial launch of a Reno technology start-up, iWebVisit.com.
Her ability to recognize, evaluate and implement business process improvements, fundamental HR strategies, technological advancements, and create cultures where employee satisfaction is valued is a testament to her business acumen and goal to achieve more than just the status quo.
Lindsay has a Bachelor of Science, Business Management and Administration and has recently earned her Master of Science in Management and Leadership. She is a Certified Associate of Project Management, a Member of SHRM and NNHRA and has been nominated the past two consectutive years for Northern Nevada’s Most Powerful Woman Award.
Lindsay is dedicated and actively engaged in serving the local community. Since 2012, she has been donating her time as an Organizer for Reno Police Dept’s Annual Hashimoto Memorial Golf Tournament. She was on the Board of Directors for the Northern Nevada Chapter of Conscious Capitalism from 2016-2018. Serving as Chair of the Coaching & Development Team, Lindsay facilitated training workshops and provided awareness and education to local business owners who wanted to incorporate the fundamentals of Conscious Capitalism into their business and enhance their company’s mission, leadership, culture and purpose.
In her spare time, Lindsay enjoys “glamping” adventures with her husband, Justin and spoiling her rescue dog, Penny the Regal Beagle. Lindsay is also avid baseball fan and crossed an item of her bucket list when she got to see her beloved Chicago Cubs play in (and win!) the World Series in 2016!
Mikalee Byerman – VP of Communications
Mikalee Byerman is a prolific writer, editor and communications strategist, with hundreds of published clips — both in print and in pixels — sporting her byline. She is highly skilled in numerous styles of writing: editorial to advertorial, factual to funny, case study to personality profile, web to B2B, blog to promotional and beyond.
For almost two decades, she has worked as a writer, marketing/PR director and communication consultant and has proudly called national, regional and local media outlets, private businesses and advertising agencies her clients. She has written for numerous print publications — including Ladies’ Home Journal, Alaska Airlines Magazine, the national Homes & Land publication and Southwest Spirit, the in-flight magazine for Southwest Airlines — books, websites and client collateral.
A social media nerd by passion and profession, Mikalee devotes much of her time and energy to learning about the latest tools and techniques. Her interest was born from her own experience, as she has written viral content that has gained the attention and links to Diet Coke, TIME Magazine and the Huffington Post.
Mikalee prides herself on her ability to articulate a distinct writing voice for every project customized to the appropriate audience. She has extensive experience crafting communication plans and drafting press releases, brochures, web copy, newsletters and all matters of marketing collateral.
Mikalee holds a master’s degree in journalism from the Reynold’s School of Journalism at the University of Nevada and is an accomplished former managing editor of a Gannett-owned Custom Publishing Group and three award-winning magazines. She currently serves as the Vice President of Communications for the Board of Directors for NCET, Nevada’s largest technology networking group, and is a regular contributor to Reno Moms Blog.
Kevin Ciccotti – VP of Biz Cafes
Kevin Ciccotti is a Certified Professional Coach and President of Human Factor Formula, Inc. Prior to forming his company in 2008, he spent 25 years working for International Game Technology, with more than 16 years in leadership roles in the Product Development Group.
He has been a student of peak performance and human behavior for more than three decades, and it was his passion for personal development that led him to go into professional coaching. He was trained at The Coaches Training Institute (CTI), and with the Robbins-Madanes Center for Strategic Intervention, founded by world-renowned human performance experts Anthony Robbins and Psychotherapist Cloé Madanes. He is certified by the International Coach Federation (ICF), CTI, and the Robbins-Madanes Center, and in 2012 was named President of the ICF Nevada Professional Coaches Association.
Kevin is an authority in helping project managers and emerging leaders in organizations to build stronger, more sustainable relationships with their teams, helping them to drive engagement, increase productivity, and lead to greater overall success. He brings proven tools and strategies to help leaders understand people’s needs, and helps them use that knowledge to create deeper, more resonant connections. When combined with the tools of Emotional Intelligence, these strategies form the foundation for creating sustainable success in any enterprise.
He has coached and trained leaders in a variety of organizations including mining, financial services, manufacturing, and technology, as well as multiple local, state, and national government agencies.
Jon Edmondo – VP of Tech Wednesday
Jon Edmondo has over 25 years of experience managing successful sales and marketing organizations for both small and large corporations. Jon has a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of the Pacific and an MBA from Ohio University. Jon is active in the community, working with NCET and Peter Williamson, securing companies to host NCET’s Tech Wednesday events. Jon also volunteers his time at the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and helping feed underprivileged children in the Truckee Meadows, through Pathfinders.
Andy Jorgensen – VP of Design
Andy is an experienced leader in technology, business and K-12 education. His goal and his passion is to bring technology and people together to accomplish and create great things. A life-long technology evangelist, his firm belief is that the most exciting thing to come to the technology scene in the last ten years is people. Serving NCET as part of a team with exceptional and diverse skills allows him to fulfill his goal with the Reno-Tahoe business community.
Andy is Program Director of Nevada Ready 21, a Nevada Department of Education program to ignite economic development by delivering a 21st century workforce through personalized access to a connected, 21st century education. Andy also plays bass and synth in Reno’s preeminent Avant-Rock combo, Schizopolitans.
Kristin McClellan – VP of Social Media
Kristin McClellan has called Nevada home for almost nine years, and promotes the region in her role as Marketing Specialist for the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority. She has more than 10 years of diverse marketing experience, including traditional advertising, web content and strategy, social media and email marketing. During her career, she has worked in various industries including software, gaming, healthcare and tourism.
Outside of work, you can find Kristin, well… outside! She spends her free time riding her horse, hiking with her dog, backpacking and traveling.
Patrick McFarland – VP of Creative Services
Patrick McFarland is the Director of Marketing at ITS Logistics. He is responsible for corporate marketing and branding, internal and external communication, public relations, community outreach, online and social media presence and sales lead generation. Established in 1999, ITS Logistics is a premier third-party logistics company that provides personalized supply chain solutions with an asset-based dedicated transportation fleet, warehousing and distribution services, and nationwide multi-modal freight brokerage.
Patrick has been a freelance graphic designer for more than 20 years and held full time positions with Greg Mason Advertising Arts, Saint Mary’s Healthcare Network, and most recently, he was the art director of Nevada Silver & Blue magazine and manager of design and publications in development and alumni relations at his alma mater, the University of Nevada. He lives in Reno with his wife, Amy; daughter, Kaylee; and son, Sean. Patrick loves to travel, eat good food, drink good libations, cheer on the Nevada Wolf Pack and explore the beautiful Reno/Tahoe area with family and friends.
Renee McGinnes – VP of Tech Bite
Renee McGinnes is the Director of Sales and Event Planning for SMG Reno, a national management company running the Reno Sparks Convention Center, the Reno Event Center, the National Bowling Stadium and the Reno Sparks Livestock Event Center for the RSCVA. She partners with the local community to plan conventions, meetings, galas and special events and places them in the perfect venue.
Renee is a long time Reno resident with 20 years in the hospitality industry. She loves learning about people, exceeding their expectations and building relationships.
Wes McQuillen – VP of Email Services
Wes McQuillen is a full stack marketer, Virginian by birth and Nevadan by choice. He’s the Director of Marketing for Sierra Well and also does project-based marketing consulting for other local clients. In the past, he’s done marketing and PR for higher education, the non-profit sector, hospitality, and the arts, as well as freelance photojournalism and volunteering his services for free community clinics, transgender advocacy and health, and fair housing watchdog organizations. Susan Moreno – VP of Membership
Susan Moreno is the Chief Executive Officer of CVirtual, Inc., a Reno-based Executive and Technical Recruiting firm. After a successful career in hospitality spanning 25 years, Susan’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to the creation of CVirtual with husband David Crumbley in 2013. Together they share the vision of connecting great companies with game-changing talent locally and nationwide. Using the latest video interviewing technologies, CVirtual improves and streamlines the hiring process and provides their client base access to talent pools which might otherwise be unavailable. Susan is great supporter of new technologies that make daily life more simple, safe, efficient and fun.
Susan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and French and is proud to have been named the 2015 Technology Entrepreneur of the Year by NCET.
Henry Merschel – VP of Public Relations
Henry is the Digital Marketing Analyst who works for The Abbi Agency developing meaningful insights from large amounts of raw data that is collected by the agency’s various integrated marketing and PR efforts.
He believes in the power of combining the strengths of SEO, such as intent based keyword research with the impactful platform that well-executed PR delivers. These efforts ultimately help clients to cut through the noise and reach their most interested and engaged users.
Henry is a Bay Area transplant with a BSBA in Marketing from San Francisco State University that holds certifications in several of the leading marketing software, including Hubspot and Google Analytics.
When not at work, you can find Henry staying active rock climbing, practicing yoga or weight training.
Corey Nunez – VP of UX/UI
Corey is a certified UX/UI Designer at The Abbi Agency. In 2012, he moved to Reno from Northern Virginia to build the west coast Art Department for CustomInk. With over 13 years of experience in the design field, UX/UI is where his experience meets his passion. Corey is driven to make his clients and users happy and finds it fulfilling to solve complex website problems through psychology and design.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Corey graduated with a BSBA in Finance and Real Estate from the University of Southern Mississippi.
When not at work, you can find Corey road cycling, mountain biking, racing his bicycle, hiking, camping, or traveling the world.
Jock Ochiltree – VP of Event Services
Jock is a Realtor with Dickson Realty. During his decade as a realtor, he has guided nearly 200 clients in buying or selling their homes. The greatest reward is contributing to their satisfaction with this important life event, minimizing stress through the whole process.
Jock has worked with people to help them buy or sell starter homes, new & resale homes, single family homes & condos, golf or beach or 55+ communities. Jock has been awarded a Five Star Professional Award for exceptional service.
He focuses on being a guide, a counsel, and an adviser, not on being a salesman. Listening and understanding skills are most important. Jock believes analytical skills are important and that a realtor must be tech-savvy. And, above all, a realtor must be committed to his client’s satisfaction.
Real Estate Success (10 years). After building a successful real estate business in northeast Florida, Jock and his wife, Leah moved to Reno to be with their son and grandchildren. Family is so important! They love Reno. It’s a great place to live.
Semiconductor industry (34 years). Jock has worked with all personality types and styles – engineers, marketers, salespersons, accountants – from all over the world. As a result of the breadth of experiences, Jock & his clients always find common ground for understanding and communicating with each other.
Golfer (40+ years). Jock has helped many golfers find the community that suits them best. Balancing investment, cost, lifestyle priorities is an important consideration when choosing a golf community.
Seniors. Jock has worked with seniors for the past several years. As a certified Seniors Real Estate Specialist, he has been trained to provide the service that seniors require. Jock & Leah represented their Jacksonville broker as site agents in a 55+ community in Florida and also lived in one.
Jock’s wife Leah is an interior decorator. Her business is Fresh Perspectives. She provides a strong addition to Jock’s real estate services.
Tracy Rhodes – VP of Website Services
Tracy is a graduate of the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs, CO and the AF Institute of Technology in Dayton, OH. He served in the USAF for 20 years as a pilot and aeronautical
engineer. After retiring from the Air Force he was hired as a pilot for Northwest Airlines where he worked for 22 years. In early 2008, while still flying as an airline pilot, he was asked by a
family member if he could make a website they could use to sell handmade pet toys on the Internet. He taught himself website programming and search engine optimization while on
airline layovers around the world. It didn’t take long for him to hear about WordPress. He was impressed with it’s capabilities and flexibility and has been using it ever since. After retiring from airline flying he formed Sierra Web Solutions LLC and now provides website services to a wide range of small businesses and organizations.
Kyle Robertson – VP of Speaker Management
Kyle is a mortgage consultant with New American Funding. With many years of experience in the mortgage banking industry, and extensive practice in originating home loans for both purchase and refinance. He is a firm believer in excellent customer service, leading with client education, and offering the most competitive pricing. One of his favorite aspects of mortgage lending is finding solutions for each individual borrower’s financial situation to get them qualified. Kyle attended the University of Nevada, Reno on a football scholarship and graduated in 2007. While in school, he met his wife, Sarah, who is a native Nevadan. While Kyle enjoys golfing and fishing, he spends most of his free time with their two sons, Vincent and Thomas.
Erich Schmitt – VP of Email Services
Erich Schmitt isn’t shy about sharing that his generous uncle paid for him to travel around Europe for four years after college. Pressed a bit further, Erich reveals his uncle was someone we are all familiar with, Uncle Sam. Erich’s first career was in the military where he spent eight years of active duty in the Air Force.
Erich grew up in Atlanta, GA and attended the University of West Georgia. No stranger to a strong work ethic, he dived into the restaurant business. He opened two new restaurants as the general manager where he learned the day-to-day operations can be challenging. In the process, Erich discovered something about himself. He genuinely loved the service-oriented aspect of the business. He took pleasure in creatively fixing any problems that crept up. He could transform a customer’s experience from downright disappointing to excellent in a heartbeat. His passion for customer service continued as he relocated to Reno in 1999 after spending some time in Graeagle, CA.
He’s frequently been told he has a unique ability to identify opportunities, show value and deliver results. He credits this unique talent to polite persistence. He knows the importance of reminding current and potential customers that he is there if they need him. That gentle reminder comes in all packages and has become a trademark of Erich’s business philosophy. It might be an email, phone call or friendly visit. You will see Erich’s polite persistence in his current position as Director of Sales and Marketing with Lifecycle Solutions. While Lifecycle Solutions has a global reputation as an electronic recycler, Erich brings in the local focus.
Erich believes any time you can prevent electronics and other recyclable items from going into the landfill is a good thing. He’s happy to educate others about the process and most importantly provide viable solutions for local businesses. When this renaissance man isn’t help saving the earth, you can find him out on the golf course or submerged underwater scuba diving. He is the proud father to two grown daughters and faithful companion, Biscotti, his dog. It also turns out he can play a wicked game of Cards Against Humanity.
Jackie Shelton – VP of Biz Cafe
After a 30-year career in the communications industry, Jackie still has a hard time focusing on one particular aspect of it, so she’s stopped trying. As Vice President of Public Relations for the Estipona Group, she gets to handle strategic communications and special events for clients ranging from governmental agencies to healthcare and higher education providers.
A graduate of the University of Nevada, Jackie has worked in all facets of communications from running two advertising agencies to publishing two of the Northern Nevada region’s premiere publications, RLife and Family Pulse. She has also served as an editor for Comstock’s Magazine, along with several parenting magazines. In addition to her magazine work, she has been published in Chicken Soup for the Soul and 365 Scary Stories, a Barnes & Noble anthology.
Jackie’s marketing experience runs through the housing, real estate, renewable energy, healthcare, non-profit, hotel-casino, retail and entertainment sectors. She has worked with non-traditional clients with less traditional goals, like the region’s first curbside recycling program/plant, where she hosted a formal sit-down luncheon for area dignitaries. She also works with a therapist specializing in issues of sexuality, a non-profit organization focused on helping people with disabilities live independently, and a green energy company.
Before joining the Estipona Group, Jackie served as a marketing & communications manager for TrueBlue, Inc., a national, publicly traded blue-collar staffing company. While overseeing the external and internal marketing for CLP Resources, Inc. and PTS, the company’s skilled trades and industrial divisions, she helped the company navigate the recession and target different sectors, including renewable energy, so the company could continue to thrive and prosper.
Jackie earned her accreditation in public relations (APR) in 2016, and served on the board of directors for the Public Relations Society of America Sierra Nevada Chapter for three years. She has also served on the national board of the American Advertising Federation, as well as numerous local/regional non-profit and professional organizations, including the Unnamed Writers’ Group and Nevada Recycling Coalition.
Kurt Thigpen – VP of Email Services
Kurt Thigpen is a Nevada transplant by way of Georgia. He is a digital marketing specialist with a passion for working with small businesses and non-profits. With over 8 years’ experience in the field, he is dedicated to improving our community using his skills.
Kurt is the Co-Founder and Master of Web at local digital marketing startup, Ace Studios.
When he’s not working or hustling for his clients, Kurt enjoys going on adventures with his husband and two dogs.
