NCET helps you explore business and technology
By Dave Archer
Back when many cities had just three TV stations and you had to walk to the TV to change channels, I looked forward to TV Guide’s Fall Preview of new and returning shows. With that in mind, here’s my annual NCET’s Fall Preview of programs and events designed to help Northern Nevada’s business community.
Ignite Reno, Sept 19: Over the past nine years, Ignite Reno has featured hundreds of presentations by lively and energetic personalities ranging in topics from technology, finance, mining, comedy, history and more. While the presentations aren’t all business or technology, they’re always interesting! www.ignitereno.com
NCET Small Business Expo, September 20: My personal favorite, the 14th annual NCET Expo is Northern Nevada’s best networking event. The Expo is where you’ll meet the people who will help you start or grow your business. The Expo features 1,000 businesspeople with whom you can network, 100 exhibitors and six educational sessions. This year’s educational track focuses on employment law, marketing and branding, business valuation, and small business basics! Open to the public, and free to attend with a business card. www.NCETexpo.org
EDAWN Existing Industry Awards, October 17: The EDAWN Existing Industry Awards, held at the Grand Sierra Resort, our community’s opportunity to celebrate and recognize the success and accomplishments of the many outstanding companies that make up the backbone of our regional economy – our existing primary employers! (A “primary company” is a private-sector company in Washoe County, the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center or Fernley where the majority of the company’s revenue (>50%) is generated from outside the State of Nevada.) Nominate or find out more at www.edawn.org/existing-business/existing-industry-awards
NCET’s 4th annual State of Digital Marketing Industry, November 20: NCET is bringing together some of the top minds in marketing for a special panel discussion on the current state of digital marketing while looking to the future on such topics as content, website personalization, social media, search and other marketing trends. Don’t miss this chance to learn about what’s happening, what’s about to happen, and how digital marketing ties into the ultimate success of your business. Panelists include Abbi Whitaker of The Abbi Agency and Jarrod Lopiccolo of Noble Studios, with more panelists added soon. www.NCETspecial.org
TEDxUniversityofNevada, February 29, 2020: At the 8th annual TEDxUniversityofNevada event, live speakers and TED Talks videos combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. This year’s event will be held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, where speakers and participants will share and discuss ideas worth spreading! www.tedxuniversityofnevada.org
Interface Reno, Spring 2020: This CPE-accredited educational conference is designed for IT professionals and focuses on the latest developments in this constantly changing information technology environment. It’s a full day of the latest IT innovations and best practices.
