Finally, a place where I can count on getting the latest business news in my industry, completely personalized to me. News that are not only from reliable sources but are actually powered by my professional world. Now, that’s awesome! Here are two things I really like about this new Pulse app.
Ease of Setting Up
Just log in with your LinkedIn account and LinkedIn Pulse will instantly give you the latest news based on the industry you are in, your connections and what you follow on LinkedIn. You can customize the app even more by saving articles to read later, follow an author, or dismissing an article you are not interested in. All of these actions will customize your app even more so that you continue to receive personalized business news that matter to you.
Personalized Business News
When I first logged in, the app sent me top news stories from the marketing and advertising industry (knowing that’s what I’m interested in). The next story I saw was from Entrepreneur.com on “Don’t waste your focus on things you can’t control” since I’m following that resource. Then I saw that my connections Kent Young and Will Seccombe were mentioned in the news.
Thanks to the Newsle product, which LinkedIn acquired last year, I can now get notifications in my personalized business news digest about my professional network being mentioned in the news. I still use Newsle on its own, but maybe it’s time to unsubscribe from their daily emails and just rely on Pulse to keep me informed about what’s happening in my professional network.
And if you decide that’s not what you need you can adjust your notifications in the settings.
LinkedIn has 259 million members worldwide. You are there right? Check out Pulse and let me know what you think. What’s your preferred way of getting your business news?
