Managing conflict has always been important, and is even more important with so many of us now working from home.
Join us on May 20 for Kandis Porter’s interactive presentation as she covers five approaches for managing conflict: Competing, Collaborating, Compromising, Avoiding, and Accommodating. Conflict is natural and can actually lead to creativity and better deliverables, when managed appropriately. When is the right time to use each of these modes of managing conflict? Knowing the answer to this question can help teams thrive at work! Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI) is one tool that can be used to assess an individual’s behavior in conflict situations—that is, situations in which the concerns of two people appear to be incompatible. In conflict situations, we can describe a person’s behavior along two basic dimensions: (1) assertiveness, the extent to which the individual attempts to satisfy his or her own concerns, and (2) cooperativeness, the extent to which the individual attempts to satisfy the other person’s concerns.
Kandis’ presentation includes:
- Defining conflict and discussing the pros / cons associated with it
- Introducing five modes of managing conflict: Competing, Collaborating, Compromising, Avoiding, and Accommodating
- Sharing information on when to use each of the five approaches for managing conflict
- Discussing how teams can improve through understanding their own and each other’s ways of managing conflict
- Committing to an action plan directly related to improving your conflict management skills
So join us online at 3 pm. It’s free to attend, no RSVPs are needed, and everyone is welcome!
