4 tech gadgets for your Christmas list

December 21, 2018 by NCET Member

By Brandon Cerocke

This is your official notice before it’s too late and you are forced to come up with a lie about why you showed up present-less on Christmas.

You have a bevy of excuses at your disposal with the rampant package thievery and constantly delayed shipments (this one is valid — I’m looking at you, On-Trac). If you are struggling to come up with something new, exciting and a little techy, we have some ideas.

Polaroid 3D Draw Pen

If you have a child or friend who is an artist, loves to draw and has some creativity, the Polaroid 3D Draw Pen is where it’s at. This is the stuff of the future. I look at products like this and dream of the real-world applications that something on a larger scale could apply to. Create an array of structures with this 3D pen; only your imagination will limit what’s possible.

Braava Robot Mop

Everyone has a carpet-cleaning robot now, but why not a hardwood-floor-cleaning robot? If one robot is good, then two are better. We may not have achieved Jetsons levels of robotic home-cleaning and butler service, but every little bit helps. With models configured to clean spaces from 250 to 1,000 square feet, this little guy will help keep your hard walking surfaces as clean as your carpet!

Arccos Golf Caddie

The folks at Arccos and Microsoft have teamed up to create one of the coolest electronic golf caddies on the market. What is an electronic golf caddie, you ask? It is an artificial-intelligence-based app and sensor that gathers data from your rounds of golf as well as other users across the globe.

With the data from your previous rounds, weather and hundreds of other data points on over 40,000 courses, it will make suggestions based on your shot probabilities to provide the user with club and shot selections to achieve the best score possible. It cannot, however, predict when you are going to hit it fat, so keep practicing.

Courant Wireless Charging Tray

What kind of black magic is this? Charging over the air seems like the next step in our technological evolution with many real-world applications (outside of making sure your phone is charged so you don’t miss the latest tweet). Plugging your phone in to charge is a thing of the past.

With sleek looks and function to boot, this wireless charging tray is one of the best out there. Toss it on the nightstand or on the counter and never worry about forgetting to plug your device in to charge. Personally, I’m ready for the next iteration that will allow my phone to be charged in my pocket … maybe we will see it in next year’s article.

Every year there seem to be more and more gifts geared toward technology focused consumers. You still have time to get out there and get something that will wow your loved ones.
