When business plans lead to lemons, what you do with them can be crucial
Dating is the most talked about topic on Facebook and other social networks, so Reno-based social media and video game developer 3G Studios licensed “The Dating Game” brand from Sony Pictures.
3G raised money from local partners and built a substantial online game.
“You and your friends would answer trivia questions and try to answer each other’s dating questions. It was a lot of fun,” 3G’s CEO James Kosta said.
But the game tanked.
People who didn’t know the TV show thought it was a real dating site and were disappointed. And people who remembered the show tended to be married and didn’t want their spouses to get the wrong idea when seeing “The Dating Game” on their social networks.
It was a learning experience.
