Growing Your Business through Government Contracting - Aug 28

Nevada Small Business Development Center, in conjunction with Nevada Microenterprise Initiative, is hosting a 1:00 p.m. seminar August 28, 2008, on “Growing Your Business through Government Contracting” at the Washoe County Government Complex.

Participating organizations making formal presentations at the seminar will include NCED Procurement Outreach Program (POP), SCORE, Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The seminar will focus on services available to companies seeking to enter government contracting, including:

  • * Counseling and training programs to organize your business in preparation for starting government contracting;
  • * Programs that identify potential federal, state and local contracts;
  • * Programs that act as an advocate for business in the contract process;
  • * Financing to start and complete contracts;
  • * Marketing to the government;
  • * Advantages of subcontracting for start-ups;
  • * Bonding programs that allow bidding on, and acceptance of contracts; and
  • * Limiting competition in the bidding process

Before bidding on and being awarded contracts, businesses must be able to demonstrate the capacity and capability to complete contracts. NSBDC, NMI, SCORE and VBOC offer free counseling to help companies prepare and organize prior to entering the contracting process. POP, part of the Nevada Commission on Economic Development, is a Procurement Technical Assistance Counseling (PTAC) organization, providing the necessary training and technical assistance to find, bid on and acquire federal, state and local contracts.

The seminar starts promptly at 1:00 pm on August 28, 2008 at the Washoe County Government Center, Building C conference room, located at 1001 E. 9th St, Reno, NV.
