2013 Northern Nevada’s Cleantech Open Kick-off – Feb 28
Join us on Thursday, February 28 at 3:30pm at the campus of NV Energy to meet some of the teams from last year who will talk about their experiences with the Cleantech Open, overviews of their technologies and businesses, and provide information about this year’s competition!
Cleantech Open is the world’s largest cleantech accelerator. Its mission is to find, fund and foster entrepreneurs with big ideas that address today’s most urgent energy, environmental and economic challenges. Since 2006 this one-of-a-kind annual Accelerator & Competition has helped 727 companies bring their ideas to fruition through extensive mentoring, training, business clinics, investor sessions, and numerous opportunities to showcase to the media, the public and the investor community. The annual program provides entrepreneurs and technologists the resources needed to launch a successful clean technology company and offers regional prizes up to $20,000 and a national grand prize of $200,000.
Last year, NIREC partnered with the Cleantech Open to bring a chapter to Nevada – and did so with resounding success. The Silver State entered a record 16 teams into the Cleantech Open, of which 6 accepted semi-finalist spots!
Cleantech Open’s Nevada Director, Chip Evans, and new Northern Nevada Director, Thomas Burnham, Ph.D., along with founders of some of last year’s participants (H2 Technologies Group, C2eSoft, Yelo Velo, and Discovery Carbon) will be present to talk about the program and their technologies and businesses, many of which are cutting edge in the world of cleantech.
Light refreshments will be provided for those in attendance and the event will be concluded by 5:00pm. Don’t miss your chance to meet and chat with the founders and designers of these cleantech companies – perhaps you too can participate in some capacity in the Cleantech Open this year!
